As your City Council representative and current Mayor Pro Tem, I've worked to maintain Universal City's small-town charm while ensuring responsible growth and strong city services. With Randolph Air Force Base as our neighbor, our community holds a unique position that we must preserve and enhance.

My Commitments:

• Enhancing City Services: Ensuring our police, fire, and public works departments have the resources they need to keep our community safe and thriving.
• Long-Term Economic Planning: Focusing on economic development strategies that reduce our reliance on property taxes, easing the financial burden on homeowners.  The Aviation project and Reunion project are vital to our city and must continue to move forward. 
• Preserving Our Community's Character: Balancing growth with the need to maintain the small-town feel that makes Universal City special.

Investing in Our Community's Future

The Olympia Hills Golf Course and Event Center is a cornerstone of Universal City, providing recreational opportunities and serving as a venue for community events. In 2002, our community approved a venue tax to fund the construction of this facility. Thanks to your support, the bonds were fully paid off two years ago.

Looking Ahead: A recent operation and capital assessment by National Golf Foundation has identified necessary improvements to the golf course and event center to ensure they remain assets to our community. I support keeping the venue tax in place to fund these enhancements as needed. The beauty of current venue tax is that city council has the flexibility to use this funds either for the golf course or for our parks.  If city council does want to the use the funds they don’t have too.  Some of the enhancements suggested:

• Create a master plan for course improvements focusing on bunkers, irrigation tee enhancement, restrooms, parking, tree trimming and thinning.
• Improving event spaces to better serve community functions and private events.
• Enhancing driving range, patio improvement, cart paths, kitchen and lower level services and maintenance facility

By continuing the venue tax, we can invest in these projects without increasing property taxes, ensuring our community spaces remain vibrant and well-maintained for years to come.
