Dedicated to the Citizens of Universal City

No matter where I have lived ...

... I have always been involved and my time in Universal City is no different. My first step was to attend the Universal City Citizens Police Academy in 2018; joining the Alumni Association after graduation. This was a great first step toward being involved in our small, amazing community. Since then, I have served or volunteered in the following capacities:

Served Universal City:

  • City Council -- elected for a 2 year term May 2023. Served as Mayor Pro Tem May 2024-present.  Serve with other elected officials to represent the residents by making decisions that shape policies, budget and overall development.
  • Planning and Zoning Commission—P&Z: where I considered the effect of changes in zoning, sought to bring the implementation of new businesses, and to have full knowledge of the overall development of Universal City.

  • Universal City Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors—EDC: where I work with other business minded individuals to attract and retain businesses for the City and to grow the economic prosperity in all sectors of the City.

Attended:

  •  City Council meetings regularly since 2018. I stay abreast of issues that affect our community.

  • Board of Adjustment/Board of Appeals meetings to understand the impact of decisions made on homeowners and businesses throughout the City

  • Aviation District planning and presentation/UC Crossing presentation to gain knowledge and understanding of the economic growth planned for Universal City in the next several years and for the long term

  • Actively participated in the focus group for the Aviation District to ensure that voices from across the City were represented and that consideration was given on how to best grow that area of the City for the residents and businesses that reside in this area.

Non-profit organization memberships/involvement:

  • Universal City Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association—UCCPAAA to fulfill the mission of supporting the Universal City Police Department and working on projects and programs that keep our City safe.

  • Park Partners to provide guidance and funding for the Universal City parks and to ensure that open spaces and green spaces are an integral part of the community.

  • Pug Rescue of Austin to give love and homes to pets who otherwise would be forgotten and/or discarded.

Spearheaded the execution and planning of the following fundraising events for the Universal City community:

  • Pumpkin Patch (this supports 13 local non-profit organizations)

  • Designer Purse Bingo (Park Partners)

  • Casino Night (UCCPAAA)
  • Hero Camp/First Responder Cadet Youth Academy (UCCPAAA) This is a weeklong event for 12-14 yo to learn about the life of a first responder. They will walk away with CPR and Stop the bleed training and a first aid kit they will build.  They will also have AMAZING life long stories.

Current Initiatives:

These are things I am currently working on with others to launch in the near future:

  • Rainbow Bridge--I am currently working with public works, Homes for the Homeless and Parks Partners to create a Rainbow Bridge.  Move information to follow!

Volunteerism:

I am an active member of the Universal City community. I have volunteered for the following events:

  • Pumpkin Patch: member of the sponsoring group since 2018. This represents hours of planning, decision making, set up, patch organization, and managing volunteers.

  • Movies in the Park since 2019. Volunteer to help welcome visitors and serve until the movie starts.

  • Toga Run since 2018. Help direct participants on the correct route and offer support as they complete their race.

  • Flashlight Walk events at the golf course (during Covid) where I gave my time to help direct families on the approved paths and to put a friendly face out in the community during a time of crisis and isolation.

  • Easter Egg Hunt event where I made Easter baskets and delivered them to children and families during Covid. I continue to help make baskets each year for the spring event.

  • Veteran’s Parade where I walked Pat Booker Road to represent the UCCPAAA and to promote a welcoming sense of community for Veterans.

  • Christmas Tree Lighting where I give hours to planning the event, setting up the event and tearing down event to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year with my fellow residents.

  • Murder Mystery event for the community that was well attended and brought out residents that have never participated in a city event.
